AMAZON REDEFINED RETAIL AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Amazon has redefined selling. They dominate e-commerce. It has transformed SCM, breathed fresh air into retailing and SCM, and elevated end-to-end Supply Chain Management to strategic. The logistics they have brought in-house are meant to create Supply Chain Velocity that drives Inventory Velocity that drives Order Delivery Velocity. Their growing volumes build their own logistics density. And they are now a perceived threat to established logistics providers if they offer their capabilities to their companies. The power of that capability is their proven supply chain performance. It may be time for finance and logistics firms to stop criticizing Amazon based on old measures. The times they are a changing.
