Maersk, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd announce rate increases.

Maersk. Rates will increase on all dry cargo from North America to Far East Asia on Feb. 1 by $80 per TEU and $100 per FEU, 40-foot high-cube and 45-foot dry containers.

Hapag-Lloyd. Rates will increase on all cargo from India and the Middle East to U.S. and Canada on Feb. 1 by $425 per TEU and $500 per FEU, 40-foot high-cube and 40-foot reefer containers.

CMA CGM. Rates will increase on all dry and reefer cargo from India to North Europe, the Mediterranean, and North and South America on Feb. 5 by $400 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
Also, a terminal-handling charge was applied in Emirati Dirham on Jan. 1 on all containers in UAE ports importing and exporting from Asia. THC imports into Jebel Ali, Khor Fakkan, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are AED 715 ($194.66) for non-hazardous TEUs and AED 1,073 for hazardous TEUs, while they are AED 1,140 for non-hazardous FEUs and AED 1,710 for hazardous FEUs. THC exports from Jebel Ali, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are AED 995 for non-hazardous TEUs and AED 1,353 for hazardous TEUs, while they are AED 1,420 for non-hazardous FEUs and AED 1,990 for hazardous FEUs.

The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index closed Dec. 31 at 1048.88 points, down 27.75 points from the previous week. Rates to the U.S. West Coast ended the week at $2,058 per FEU, up 20 percent from the previous week, while rates to the U.S. East Coast were $4,498 per FEU, up 7.5 percent.
