Amazon opens second New Jersey fulfillment center
Seattle -- Amazon.com is opening its second one million-sq.-ft. fulfillment center in New Jersey, in the town of Carteret, as its looks to facilitate same-day deliveries in Manhattan.
Amazon opened its first one million-sq.-ft. fulfillment center in New Jersey, in Robbinsville, in July 2014. The company employs thousands of full-time employees at its Robbinsville fulfillment center and continues to hire to meet growing customer demand.
"Amazon is doubling down its investment in New Jersey, showing other companies the value of growing their business in the Garden State," said Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. "This million-sq.-ft. fulfillment center -- the second such facility here in New Jersey -- will create hundreds of full-time, permanent jobs: it's a win for Amazon and the State."
The company also has a 280,000-sq.-ft. grocery warehouse in the Avenel section of Woodbridge, New Jersey, that Amazon uses as a base for its AmazonFresh service.
