IS TODAY'S GRI TOMORROW'S SCFI RATE DROP?

GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL, MOL, APL and Emirates

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL, MOL, APL and Emirates Shipping Line issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MOL, APL and Emirates issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe effective April 1. Rates will increase by $400 per TEU; and $800 per forty-foot container (FEU), 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Mediterranean (excluding Syria) effective April 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to Syria effective April 1. Rates will increase by 500 Euros per TEU; and 1,000 Euros per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • North Europe to Far East Asia effective April 1. Rates will increase by $160 per TEU; and $200 per FEU and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • The Mediterranean (excluding Syria) to the Middle East and the South Asian area effective April 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
     • Syria to the Middle East and the South Asian area effective April 1. Rates will increase by 93 Euros per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.* North Europe to the Middle East and South Asian area effective April 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Santa Marta (Colombia), Barranquilla (Colombia) and Cartagena (Colombia) effective April 15. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU and 40-foot high cube dry containers. Rates will also increase by $1,000 (excluding Buenaventura, Colombia) per 40-foot non-operating reefer containers.
     • The abovementioned Asian ports to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Buenaventura (Colombia) effective April 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube dry containers. Rates will also increase by $1,500 (excluding Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta in Colombia) per forty-foot non-operating reefer containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • North Europe to the Middle East and Red Sea effective April 4. Rates will increase by $125 per container for only dry containers and is applicable on new and renewable offers.
     • India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to Mombasa (Kenya) and Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) for all cargo effective April 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to Mogadishu (Somalia) and Zanzibar for all cargo effective April 15. Rates will increase $100 per TEU.
     • The United Arab Emirates to the Comoros (Moroni and Mutsamudu) for all cargo (including dry, reefer, out of gauge and breakbulk) effective April 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • The West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Far East, Japan, India, the Gulf and Red Sea for all cargo effective May1. Rates will increase by $150 per unit.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective April 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
   The German carrier will also increase rates for all cargo and container types from the Mediterranean to the West Coast of Canada; and the East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast of the United States. Rates will increase April 15 by $150 per TEU container and $250 per FEU container.
   MOL will increase rates from Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective April 15. Rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot general purpose container (GP); and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube container (dry and reefer).
   The Japanese carrier will also increase rates from Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective April 15. Rates will increase by $700 per 20-foot GP; and $1,400 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube container (dry and reefer).
   APL will increase rates on the Asia-Europe and Asia-Mediterranean trades effective April 1 by $550 per TEU, Richard Ward, a container derivatives specialist at Freight Investor Services said.
   OOCL will increase rates from Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam to New Zealand for dry and refrigerated cargo effective April 1. Rates will increase by $75 per TEU.
   Emirates Shipping Line will increase rates from Jebel Ali and Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates; North and West India; and Karachi, Pakistan to Mombasa, Kenya and Dar es Salaam Tanzania for all shipments effective April 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU for dry van and high cube containers.
   Emirates Shipping Line will also increase rates from Jebel Ali and Khor Fakkan, North and West India and Karachi to Zanzibar, Tanzania  for all shipments effective April 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU for dry van and high cube containers.
