MANUFACTURING & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Manufacturers are behind the curve when it comes to supply chain management.  They push for lower costs, yet treat SCM by functions.  As a result, they sacrifice performance and lower costs.

They want lower costs because they they lack competitive differentiation.  They have a monolithic supply chains that do not create competitive differentiation.

There is a new supply chain paradigm.  There is a blue ocean strategy with global ecommerce.  There are multichannel opportunities.  Yet manufacturers are complacent about these.

Why are they not doing more to catch up on supply chain management and to use it to separate from competitors?
